Andros, Bahamas
Andros is the largest island in the Bahamas, yet it has the lowest population density of any of the Bahamian islands. The main attractions of Andros include the third longest barrier reef in the world, uninhabited small islands with sandy beaches that are ideal for beach combing, Blue Holes, and general solitude.

Boating, Diving, and Snorkeling
The barrier reef off the eastern coast of Andros is the third longest coral reef in the world (after the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and the reef off the coast of Belize). Yet only a handful of commercial dive operators visit the coral heads, schools of tropical fish, and shipwrecks. For real do-it-your-selfers, it is possible to rent a boat from a local Bahamian in some of the small settlements for a trip to the reef, although the reef is treacherous with many isolated coral heads that may be difficult to see. Hiring a local guide would not be a bad idea.

Small Islands
A number of uninhabited small islands exist between the main island of Andros and the barrier reef on the eastern coast. Many have sandy beaches, and are ideal for beach combing or simply finding solitude.
